Introduction
Durham PreK provides high quality educational experiences for four-year-olds in Durham County to help prepare them for kindergarten. Children served by Durham PreK typically attend a full 6.5-hour school day and 10-month school year program.
The Durham PreK application allows you to apply for all publicly funded pre-k programs available for children who live in Durham and are 4 years old on or before August 31st of the current school year. Children may attend classrooms in 5-star licensed child care centers; Head Start programs; or Durham Public Schools.
To be considered for Durham Public Schools, families must submit a complete application, including all required documentation, AND screening by May 12, 2024.

- You will need to submit documentation to establish your child's eligibility to participate in Durham PreK. A full list of documentation needed to complete your application is available here.
- The Ages and Stages Questionnaire (ASQ) is an online screening tool. You will be ed to complete this after submitting your Durham PreK application. For details, visit durhamprek.org/families/enrollment/
- Families at or above 400% FPL may have a fee based on a sliding scale. Learn more here.
* If your child is under the age of 4 and ineligible for PreK, please contact CCSA's Child Care Referral Central program at 1-855-327-5933 for assistance finding other programs that meet your family’s situation and needs. **Please note, transportation to and from Pre-K Programs is not available and is the responsibility of my family.
